For many people the holidays are a time they get together and celebrate love, joy, and peace with those around them, including fluffy four-legged friends and family. There is lots of decorating, tree trimming, holiday parties, baking, cooking, and exchanging of gifts. If you are on the hunt to have a Happy Paw-lidays this year, here’s a list (you can check more than twice) created just for you.

Ho Ho Hold a Pet-Friendly Holiday Party

Holiday parties with lots of attendees can be a bit overwhelming for most pets. Consider setting up a quiet space away from all the action, where your fluffy bestie can retreat to if needed. If you’re hosting the party, let friends and family know right away if your pet tends to be a bit more on the shy side. If you’re the attendee, don’t be afraid to ask the owner about their pet’s personality, likes or dislikes.

Hang all the mistletoe (with caution)

There are some beautiful plants that many of us rush out to buy when this joyous season arrives, but be careful, as some of these plants are toxic to our four-legged family members. Mistletoe, poinsettia, Christmas cacti, English holly, amaryllis, and Japanese yew all vary in toxicity and may present varied symptoms if your pet accidentally ingests one of them. Click here to find out how toxic these plants are, the symptoms to look for if your pet ingested one and what you can do as a pet parent.

Oh, bring us some figgy pudding

The holiday season brings with it lots of goodies and festive treats and there’s no reason why your faithful four-legged friend shouldn’t get to partake as well. With stores carrying multiple varieties of delicious high quality treats these days, you can certainly find some great gifts or stocking stuffers for your beloved pet. If you are in the holiday mood and are up for some baking, try making some treats of your own. That way you can cater to any food allergies or sensitivities your faithful fido or feline may have.
