Like Niagara, Prince Edward County is known for its wine. As a matter of fact, it’s actually Canada’s fastest-growing wine region. The County boasts over 40 wineries, as well as local breweries, cideries and restaurants, making this a food-lovers’ paradise. This charming area is a great place to experience the farm-to-table movement and is only three hours away – making for a perfect weekend getaway.

Before you hit the road, you’ll need to decide on your preferred method of transportation. One option is to take the train. If this is something you’re interested in, your CAA Travel Consultant can assist you in booking your pass with VIA Rail, which offers Members a discount of up to 20%. We recommend you book your stay with the Prince Harbour Inn.

Alternatively, you could also drive your RV and stay in one of the County’s local campgrounds. This includes Smugglers Cove RV Resort and Sandbanks Beach Resort in Picton, and Quinte Isles Campark and Cherry Lane Campground & Cottages in Cherry Valley. Should you choose this option, remember to upgrade your Membership to include coverage on your motorhomes or campers for an additional $88/year.1

Upon arrival, enjoy a day of leisure by renting a bicycle, joining a wine tour or touring one of the County’s many art studios and galleries.

In the evening, head to the neighbourhood of Wellington and enjoy a lakeside dinner with a view at Drake Devonshire, which is situated along the edge of Lake Ontario.

Day 2 in Prince Edward County

This morning, depart on a full-day wine tour with Sandbanks Vacations & Rentals. Visit six iconic wineries in the area, or spend the morning leisurely discovering the many local shops and artisans.

If you did not choose the full-day wine tour, choose between a Half-Day Wine Tour and visit four wineries, or enjoy stops at a brewery, cidery, distillery, winery and local artisan on The County Unveiled Tour.

In the evening, enjoy dinner at the Acoustic Grill or Country Canteen. Both locations feature live entertainment most evenings.

Day 3 in Prince Edward County

Spend your third and final day enjoying the great outdoors. Sandbanks Provincial Park is a great place to soak up the sun. While you’re there, visit the Dunes or Lakeshore Beach for smaller crowds. Another option is to tee-up at the Picton Golf & Country Club. As a CAA Member, you can save up to 20% with the Canada Golf Card.

Enjoy a late lunch at Coach’s Pub & Grillhouse or East & Main before making your way home.
