What Are Government Travel Advisories?

The Government of Canada issues travel advisories based on the safety and security conditions in countries around the world. These advisories are categorized into four levels:

Advisory Level What It Means
Level 1: Exercise Normal Precautions Standard safety considerations
Level 2: Exercise Increased Caution Elevated risk; remain alert
Level 3: Avoid Non-Essential Travel High rick; reconsider plans
Level 4: Avoid All Travel Severe risk; travel strongly discourages
