Egypt and Jordan are two countries that are rich with history. Both are home to some of the world’s most iconic landmarks and draw in visitors from all over the globe. Their impressive structures take you back in time and give you insight into how the world was in ancient times. Given their nearness to deserts, guests can experience and enjoy these vast lands in a truly unique way. Come along for the ride as we take a trip to this magical section of the world.

The Pyramids of Giza

Pyramids of Giza

While you may have seen them in photos, nothing compares to an in-person look at this collection of fascinating structures. Consisting of the Great Pyramid of Giza, the Pyramid of Khafre, the Pyramid of Menkaure and smaller associated pyramid complexes, construction on this UNESCO World Heritage Site started in 2600 BC. Tourists are welcome to venture into the pyramids to get an inside look while also exploring the surroundings as well.

The Sphinx

The Sphinx

A landmark that is sitting nearby the pyramids is The Sphinx. It is probably just as recognizable as its towering neighbours as they are often captured in photos together all the time. A sphinx is a mythical creature consisting of the body of a lion and head of a man. Based on its facial appearance and archaeological data, many believe it was made in honour of pharaoh Khafre – whose reign lasted from 2558 to 2532 BC.

The Treasury

The Treasury

Al Khazneh aka The Treasury is widely considered the most extravagant structure remaining from the ancient city of Petra (now Jordan). Carved directly out of sandstone rockface its towering entrances stands 25m wide and 39m high. While there is no documentation outlining when, by whom and for whom it was built, we do know that it was originally built as a mausoleum and crypt. An excavation in 2003 however, has led archaeologists to believe it was constructed during the second half of the reign of King Aretas IV (9 BC – 40 AD).

Wadi Rum

Located in southern Jordan, Wadi Rum aka Valley of the Moon is one of the country’s most popular tourist attractions. Guests can partake in tours that include scenic hikes, camel rides, camping under the stars and much more. It is a place thriving with adventure and is ideal for anyone who is looking to explore and enjoy the outdoors.
