OSAID Day: A Movement Led by Youth, Backed by Community
2:02

On OSAID Day, we pause to recognize something powerful: the impact of young people stepping up to lead—and the strength that comes when communities stand behind them. At the heart of this message is a critical reminder for us all: never drive impaired or distracted. Whether it’s alcohol, cannabis, fatigue, or a phone in your hand—if it takes your focus off the road, it puts lives at risk. One choice can change everything. Make it the right one.

Ontario Students Against Impaired Driving (OSAID) is a student-led movement that empowers youth to take the wheel on awareness and prevention. From high school assemblies to peer-led campaigns, students across the province are changing how we think about road safety. They’re not just sharing messages—they’re living them, challenging their peers to make smart choices and shaping a culture where sober driving is the norm.

But the truth is, this work doesn’t—and can’t—happen in isolation. Creating safer roads takes all of us. Impaired driving affects more than just young people. It touches families, friends, and entire communities. And preventing it requires action from every corner of society.

That’s why we’re proud to support OSAID and the incredible youth who are leading the charge. And we’re calling on everyone—students, parents, road users, and local organizations—to play a part.

Here’s how our community can take action together:

  • Students can lead peer awareness campaigns or start an OSAID chapter in their school.
  • Parents can have open conversations about substance use and model responsible driving habits.
  • Drivers of all ages can commit to staying sober, attentive, and distraction-free on the road.
  • Local businesses and organizations can support awareness campaigns and student-led initiatives.

Impaired driving is 100% preventable—let’s commit, as individuals and as a community, to drive sober.

Together, we can create safer roads—and a safer future—for everyone. Learn more and get involved at osaid.org.
