Customize your coverage with CAA Travel Insurance

Shorter days and cooler weather have many of us itching to book our next vacation in the sun. If you’re planning a winter getaway, remember to pack CAA Travel Insurance1. While it’s never fun to think of what could go wrong on your trip, understanding your travel medical insurance needs is an important part of the vacation-planning process. When you depart for vacation, you may not be protected against the costs in the event of a medical emergency such as surgery, dental work, and transportation, including air ambulance.

CAA Travel Insurance has long been a top choice among travellers because of the flexibility offered by multi-day and single-trip coverage, which provide protection according to each traveller’s unique needs. With two recently-introduced riders - not often found in standard travel insurance policies - travellers can further customize their level of protection when travelling outside of Ontario.

The Adventurous Air Activities Rider

Whether you consider yourself a thrill-seeker or want to see your destination from new heights, the Adventurous Air Activities rider has the protection you need to travel worry-free. While activities such as scuba diving, kayaking, and zip-lining have always been covered, travellers now have the option of adding hot air ballooning and parasailing to their itineraries.

This rider provides coverage up to $5 million2 for these popular in-air activities, which had previously been excluded.

The Pre-Existing Medical Condition Rider

Travellers with unstable pre-existing medical conditions now have more options when purchasing travel insurance. This type of rider can be added to any travel medical plan and provides up to $200,000 in coverage for the unstable pre-existing medical condition, per trip.

This optional coverage reduces the stability period to just seven days before departure3. This is especially advantageous for travellers with medical conditions such as diabetes and high blood pressure, who would otherwise not be covered unless their condition was stable for months prior to departure.

Travellers who have recently been prescribed a new medication will still be protected, so long as they have been taking the new medication for at least seven days before departure.

Emergencies are never part of the plan, but you can be ready for them with CAA Travel Insurance. CAA Members always save 10%. Contact a CAA Travel Insurance specialist to see if your activity of choice is covered.

These new riders mean that travellers can travel with confidence knowing they have the coverage they need. Contact a CAA Travel Associate to discuss your needs or purchase a customized policy online
