It is a day to recognize the efforts of those who work in the tourism industry and to appreciate the natural and cultural wonders that make our world such a beautiful and diverse place to visit. National Tourist Day provides an opportunity for countries to showcase their unique attractions and traditions, and for tourists to explore new places and experience new cultures. This day encourages people to travel responsibly, respect local customs, and contribute to the sustainable development of tourism destinations. ## Celebrating National Tourist Day There are many ways to celebrate National Tourist Day, depending on where you live and what activities are available to you. Here are a few ideas: 1. Take a tour of your local city or town: Play tourist for the day in your own town. Uncover hidden gems and local attractions in your own city. Check out places you’ve never been to and you may just develop a new love for something in your own backyard. 2. Visit a nearby National Park: National Parks are great places to enjoy nature and learn about the environment. Take a hike, go camping, or just enjoy a picnic with friends and family. 3. Try local cuisine: One of the best things about travel is trying new foods. Visit a local restaurant and try the regional cuisine. You might discover a new favourite dish. 4. Share your travel experiences: Share your travel experiences on social media and inspire others to travel. Use the hashtag #NationalTouristDay to connect with other travellers. 5. Plan your next trip: Use National Tourist Day as an opportunity to plan your next trip. Research destinations, read travel blogs, and start saving for your next adventure. When you’re ready to book, reach out to a [CAA Niagara agent](https://caaniagara.ca/travel/find-an-agent), who will be more than happy to help you plan your next dream vacation. ## Play Tourist with Journeys When it comes to touring, [Journeys by CAA Niagara](https://caaniagara.ca/travel/journeys) offers a variety of options to suit different interests and budgets.
