Spotlight: CAA Roadside Heroes

March 3, 2020 | CAA Niagara

As International Women’s Day approaches, we want to take the time to shine a spotlight on our three female Emergency Roadside Services Drivers: Shannon, Jessica, and Angie.

We asked Jessica why she decided to become an Emergency Roadside Services Driver with CAA Niagara, and this is what she had to say:

"I chose to become an ERS driver because I saw an opportunity to do everything I enjoy, all at once: driving, being around vehicles, and - the best part - meeting and talking to new people every day."

"What stood out to me most about CAA Niagara is that everyone has your back. Being a woman, coming into a male-dominated industry, was a bit intimidating at first. But, knowing I had the support and encouragement to succeed is what made all the difference. CAA Niagara feels like my second family: it hardly ever feels like I'm going to work when I get into my truck in the morning."

The gender lines are blurring in many occupations that were previously dominated by one gender or another – and, this is an amazing thing. When people pursue their careers based on interests and abilities, everyone benefits!

International Women’s Day is about celebrating the successes and achievements of the women in our lives. This day reminds us of the importance of celebrating women's achievements and increasing visibility. CAA Niagara is proud to champion women of all backgrounds. We are proud of the passion and continued dedication that Shannon, Jessica and Angie bring to our Emergency Roadside Services team.
