Did you know that lead batteries, like the one that starts your car, are the most recycled consumer product on the planet? According to Battery Council International, lead car batteries have a near perfect recycling rate of 99.3 percent! That’s because nearly every component of a lead battery can be reused and recycled, including the lead, plastic, and sulfuric acid. In fact, lead batteries have been recognized as the world’s most successful example of recycling by the World Economic Forum and MIT’s Center for Transportation and Logistics.

CAA’s Commitment to the Environment

CAA is proud to offer the highest quality lead-acid car batteries for our Members’ vehicles. We recycle every battery we replace using an EPA-approved recycling center. With a long-standing history of environmental protection, CAA takes great pride in our company-wide commitment to sustainability practices.

Our battery recycling programs are designed to maximize collection rates of used automotive batteries in every market we serve. We proudly recycle over 98 percent of each used battery we collect.

Reclaim. Reuse. Recycle.

As a direct result of battery replacement and recycling services provided by CAA throughout Canada, we have helped to keep millions of pounds of waste out of landfills. We do this by:

  • Reclaiming lead, plastic, and acid for reuse in the production of new batteries.
  • Encouraging motorists across the country to recycle their auto and marine batteries.

We’ve only been given one planet to explore, so CAA is dedicated to doing our part to ensure great road trips for generations to come.To schedule a battery inspection call 1-800-CAA-HELP or visit caaniagara.ca/battery. Discover more great automotive tips from CAA experts here.
