Join Us in Giving Back This Earth Week. April 8, 2025 | CAA Niagara   5 Ways Nature Gives More Than It Takes. Join Us in Giving Back This Earth Week. 2:10 Have you ever noticed how much better you feel after a walk in the woods? Or how peaceful it feels to hear leaves rustle in the breeze? It’s not just in your head—nature actively improves our lives in ways both visible and invisible. ![Backyard Pond Restoration](https://blog.caaniagara.ca/hs-fs/hubfs/Backyard%20Pond%20Restoration.jpg?width=1152&height=532&name=Backyard%20Pond%20Restoration.jpg) Here are five reasons why **tree planting is one of the most powerful things we can do** together: ### **Trees Make Us Feel Better** Spending time in green spaces has been shown to reduce stress, improve mood, and even boost memory and focus. Tree-covered areas invite us to breathe deeply, slow down, and feel grounded—mentally and physically. ### **Trees Support Physical Health** Trees clean the air by absorbing pollutants and releasing oxygen. They cool our cities, reduce the effects of heatwaves, and encourage us to get outside and move. Neighbourhoods with more trees report lower rates of respiratory illness and heart disease. ### **Trees Support Wildlife** By planting native trees and shrubs, we create essential habitat for birds, bees, butterflies, and other wildlife. These plants help protect biodiversity, which in turn keeps our ecosystems—and food chains—healthy and thriving. ### **Trees Help Protect Our Future** One mature tree can absorb more than 20 kg of carbon dioxide per year. By restoring natural areas, we lock carbon into the soil, reduce erosion, and build more resilient landscapes that can better handle storms and floods. ### **Trees Connect Communities** There’s something special about planting side by side. Whether you’re digging with friends, family, or coworkers, tree planting fosters a sense of purpose and unity. You’re not just planting roots in the ground—you’re planting them in your community. ### Every tree planted is a small act with big returns—for the planet, for our health, and for the future. Ready to grow something great together? We’ll provide the tools, the training, and even a free Harvey’s meal—just bring your energy! 📍 **[Heartland Forest](https://heartlandforest.org/), Niagara Falls** 📅 **April 26 & 27 + May 3 & 4** 👨‍👩‍👧‍👦 Family-friendly and open to all! 🔗 [Sign up now at caaniagara.ca/EarthDay2025](https://caaniagara.ca/EarthDay2025) [![Share on facebook](https://7528309.fs1.hubspotusercontent-na1.net/hub/7528309/hubfs/raw_assets/public/mV0_d-web-default-modules_hubspot/img/facebook-color.png?width=24&name=facebook-color.png)](http://www.facebook.com/share.php?u=https%3A%2F%2Fblog.caaniagara.ca%2F5-ways-nature-gives-more-than-it-takes%3Futm_medium%3Dsocial%26utm_source%3Dfacebook) [![Share on linkedin](https://7528302.fs1.hubspotusercontent-na1.net/hub/7528302/hubfs/raw_assets/public/mV0_d-web-default-modules_hubspot/img/linkedin-color.png?width=24&name=linkedin-color.png)](http://www.linkedin.com/shareArticle?mini=true&url=https%3A%2F%2Fblog.caaniagara.ca%2F5-ways-nature-gives-more-than-it-takes%3Futm_medium%3Dsocial%26utm_source%3Dlinkedin) [![Share on twitter](https://7528304.fs1.hubspotusercontent-na1.net/hub/7528304/hubfs/raw_assets/public/mV0_d-web-default-modules_hubspot/img/twitter-color.png?width=24&name=twitter-color.png)](https://twitter.com/intent/tweet?original_referer=https%3A%2F%2Fblog.caaniagara.ca%2F5-ways-nature-gives-more-than-it-takes%3Futm_medium%3Dsocial%26utm_source%3Dtwitter&url=https%3A%2F%2Fblog.caaniagara.ca%2F5-ways-nature-gives-more-than-it-takes%3Futm_medium%3Dsocial%26utm_source%3Dtwitter&source=tweetbutton&text=) [![Share on pinterest](https://7528311.fs1.hubspotusercontent-na1.net/hub/7528311/hubfs/raw_assets/public/mV0_d-web-default-modules_hubspot/img/pinterest-color.png?width=24&name=pinterest-color.png)](http://pinterest.com/pin/create/button/?url=https%3A%2F%2Fblog.caaniagara.ca%2F5-ways-nature-gives-more-than-it-takes%3Futm_medium%3Dsocial%26utm_source%3Dpinterest&media=) [![Share on email](https://7528311.fs1.hubspotusercontent-na1.net/hub/7528311/hubfs/raw_assets/public/mV0_d-web-default-modules_hubspot/img/email-color.png?width=24&name=email-color.png)](mailto:?subject=Check%20out%20https%3A%2F%2Fblog.caaniagara.ca%2F5-ways-nature-gives-more-than-it-takes%3Futm_medium%3Dsocial%26utm_source%3Demail%20&body=Check%20out%20https%3A%2F%2Fblog.caaniagara.ca%2F5-ways-nature-gives-more-than-it-takes%3Futm_medium%3Dsocial%26utm_source%3Demail) ![Email Footer Banner & ENews Banner 600x300 (2)](https://blog.caaniagara.ca/hs-fs/hubfs/Email%20Footer%20Banner%20%26%20ENews%20Banner%20600x300%20(2).jpg?width=574&height=287&name=Email%20Footer%20Banner%20%26%20ENews%20Banner%20600x300%20(2).jpg) ### More from CAA Niagara:   Tags: [Family](https://blog.caaniagara.ca/topic/family), [Community](https://blog.caaniagara.ca/topic/community), [News](https://blog.caaniagara.ca/topic/news) [Tweets by CAA Niagara](https://twitter.com/caaniagara) ### Recent Posts - [Contact Us](https://caaniagara.ca/contact-us) - [About CAA Niagara](https://caaniagara.ca/about-caa) - [Annual Report](https://caaniagara.ca/AnnualReport2024) - [Board of Directors](https://caaniagara.ca/theboard) - [News & Media](https://caaniagara.ca/news) - [Careers](https://caaniagara.ca/careers) - [Terms & Conditions](https://caaniagara.ca/terms-and-conditions) - [Privacy Policy](https://caaniagara.ca/privacy-policy) - [Consumer Email Policy](https://caaniagara.ca/consumer-email-policy) - [AODA Customer Service Policy](https://caaniagara.ca/accessibility-standard) ![tico.ca](https://blog.caaniagara.ca/hubfs/Caaniagara_September2017/pdf/TICO-Logo.png) Ontario  Registration  #01381980 **Member Service** 1-800-263-7272 **Roadside Assistance** Niagara Region: 1-800-263-3616 Canada & US: 1-800-222-4357 or \*222 CAA Niagara serves Members in the Regional Municipality of Niagara.
